Donovan Diaz
Donovan Diaz is a professional illustrator, muralist, and character designer born in Hayward, California, and currently based in San Diego. At a young age, his fascination for comics and graphic novels like “Bone,” written by Jeff Smith, helped awaken his imagination and creativity. During his studies at Delta College for Business and Marketing, he realized he could not deny his creative side. Becoming a small business owner and illustrator allowed him to combine what he learned with what he loves most. In 2019 his work was featured in the Renegade Feedings Art Show in Fremont, California, a charity event for the unhoused community.
The success of his small business kickstarted his career as a full-time illustrator. Through digital and traditional mediums, he strives to convey a positive and enthusiastic message in his art. With a younger audience in mind, he enjoys drawing unique character designs, environments, and concepts that can inspire others. He hopes to see his art in worldwide publications someday.
Outside of being an illustrator, Donovan enjoys spending time away from the city, in mountain landscapes surrounded by nature. He tends to find inspiration in the little things. Being open-minded allows him to appreciate different cultures and lifestyles, and you can often find him in the kitchen, cooking a variety of traditional cultural meals with his girlfriend. Donovan shows support for his community and enjoys building meaningful relationships with his family and his supporters from all over the world.
