Cyndi is a Filipino-American children’s book author, illustrator, character designer, and early childhood educator living in California with her husband, two sons, and their furry dog, Kona.
At a young age, she found joy in doodling. Her first formal art class was taught by her mother, who inspired her to pursue art. From doodling characters, she began to create rag dolls and paper dolls, which she used to entertain and give out to the neighborhood children.
Her connection with young children, her love of children’s books, and the joy from her childhood are reflected in her art pieces. She draws about the simple things in life that are often taken for granted and how children view the world. Her illustrations are influenced by her daily experiences with her family, students, and current events. She hopes to inspire her readers to feel empowered and find comfort in her stories and illustrations.
She enjoys nature walks, collecting vintage children’s books, teaching art, listening to all genres of music and animation. She is a life-long learner and is inspired by the extraordinary people who make this world a better place.
